I believe that most if not all gay men have known always that they were gay, whereas a lot of lesbians may not realize they are gay until later on. I am a lesbian, but boy I can tell you, I found out late.I was 20. I kept wondering why I never wanted to be intimate with guys, and I thought it was because I was just nervous, but it turned out it was because I didn't want to at all. My cousin on the other hand, has always know he was gay, though he wasn't always out. I know a lot of lesbians who have known since birth, but a lot do not. Are there any gay men who didn't realize it until later on in life?

No, I don't believe that's necessarily true. There are definitely men who didn't realize that they were gay (or bi) until later on. Some even go as far as marrying a woman prior to realizing that they are predominantly attracted to other men. I also have friends who just never seemed to hit it off with women & didn't know why until they started realizing they were attracted to men. Most of us were raised to be heterosexual & just thought that was how everyone was, only to find our true orientations later.

while law is in step with a 'separate yet equivalent' prestige, that 'equality' may be lost to legislative replace at any time. Say, in a bad financial gadget, while an corporation (like state government) could come to a decision to no longer supply advantages to civil union companions. that they had never have the means to flee with that for marriages, in spite of the undeniable fact that this is somewhat exceeded while it does not straight away impression the majority. as though that someway reduces the impression that it does have on those in CUs. this is basically while the partnerships are legally defined by using a similar wording that the rights are secure. If particular Christians can not undergo the belief-approximately a gay couple using a similar word to describe their partnership, then they could desire to flow back to the term which replaced into particularly used in the Bible, 'gamos'.

Maybe I have a much more varied group of friends. I have gay male friends who didn't come out until closer to 40. Did they always know, no.

For me I came out late. I was 30. Although I had affairs with women I didn't exclusively date women until later in life. It also took me a long time to date "lesbians".

I initially dated straight or bisexual girls from about 19, for the first 10 yrs of experimenting.

You really can't generalize with people. Everyone is different and everyone has their own journey to live.

From the folks I have talked to, and in my own experience, that seems to be the case. Men seem to know from a very early age, I knew I was different when I was about 7. I think it has to do with the fact that women's sexuality is typically more flexible then men, and women reach their sexual peak later in life. I am sure some research has been done on the subject though.

I think part of it may be that female sexuality in general is more discouraged than male sexuality. Women aren't even taught where their clitoris is in health class. Plus, many straight girls are affectionate, think other women are pretty, etc., so that can make it a bit difficult for a young girl to figure out why she's different.

That said, I'm bi and have been 50/50 since I was five. I told my first-grade teacher that I didn't care if I married a boy or a girl, as long as they were smart, cute, and rich. :-)

most gay males i know say they didn't actually KNOW when they were kids, it was all hindsight, just like what you're explaining.

They can now remember times when they liked boys, but never acknowledge it, and so they say that in a way they knew they were gay but didn't do anything about it until later when they finally admitted it and came out.
