HA HA HA HA HA HA what fools.
I can understand if you want to support our economy BUT- do you think the assholes making these cars give a damn about you or the problems their half assed built cars generate for the consumer??

you beg to differ? thats okay just befriend a mechanic and perhaps invest in autozone stock!

here just read... "Of the 31 cars that earned top rating, 29 were Japanese." only 93% of the reliable cars are japanese, well at least all the suckers out there have a 7% chance of getting a worthwhile vehicle... then again they share the 7% with european cars but you get the point, or do you?

okay i'm not concerned where the cars are assembled so for all you anal retentives, heres what i mean by american vs japanese... american "crap" cars are the following- the big three- ford, gm, chrysler this includes all the subsidaries of each.

japanese "because calling them perfect is to arrogant"cars- honda, toyota, (nissan kinda sketchy but not like big 3)

I love your aggravated responses and the fact that that only helps my point. Not much evidence to the contrary. Your all just in loser denial stop kidding yourself and try a decent vehicle you might be suprised...i was once blindly foolish myself... its okay just look at some data before you buy... or just make your favorite repair shop rich!

I think it is unfortunate that the American automotive industry has had so many problems. Actually, the automotive industry has become very international. If you buy an American car you may get a German or Japanese engine, you will almost certainly get a Japanese air conditioner and the car could be built in Canada or Mexico.

Interesting thought, though, is that several foreign manufacturers have opened or will open plants in the United States.

So your Japanese car or truck may very well have been manufactured in the United States.

My current automobiles are an Oldsmobile minivan and an Isuzu small SUV. Both have been good vehicles and both have had recalls. One is American and the other is Japanese.

Let me throw in a little bit of a reality check. Automobile manufacturers employ thousands of people. American workers, contrary to the B.S. that gets spread around, are among the best and most productive workers in the world. We need these jobs and the industry needs these workers.

Where American industry has often failed is in the area of building the two-way loyalty that results in good products, job security and prosperous companies. There have been exceptions. Harley Davidson is one. There have been some other notables.

We need to get our act together. Meanwhile, I would encourage everyone considering a car purchase to take a good look at American vehicles. Our pickup trucks remain a strong and viable part of the industry. The industry needs the business, and America desperately needs this industry to survive.

It's not a laughing matter.

I agree that the cars generally are "better" from Japan or wherever. I had a 89 toyota cressida that had about 300,000 miles on it before the radiator got a hole in it and I couldn't get it fixed. Then it died. But, as far as trucks go, you can't get better that the homegrown American Pick-ups (Yes, the big three...FORD, CHEVROLET, GENERAL MOTORS). The quality of vehicles varies with each person, and there will never be a clear cut answer on what car is indeed better.

I was under the impression that sales for American cars have been falling dramatically in the past decade due to the superiority of Japanes made vehicles. That's why there have been sooo many crazy "buy one, get one free" sales, and employee prices for the public.

I drive a Honda Civic and love it. My husband drives a Ford Focus SVT, and it's been in the shop almost a third of the time he's had it.
