East Cleveland Ghetto

I grew up in Cleveland, so I can describe the ghettos there, but I have not been to Detroit.

The East side of Cleveland is the poorest area of town. Mostly, you will see rows of very old 2 story homes, most of which have a porch or balcony and a small front yard. They were once great houses a hundred years ago, but now, most are in need of major repair. There is little business in most of these areas besides corner stores and stores specifically targeting the black community. There are a few pocket areas of brand new housing that they are trying to draw people into moving to, but the areas nearby are so crime riddled that is does not appear to be working. Cleveland is not exactly a clean city, there is usually litter and debris covering the ground, and everything appears to have a grey or brown hue to it from all the years of pollution and neglect. Closer to downtown, there are numerous old (very old) factory/industiral type buildings with most of the windows broken out of them. A few businesses still actually run out of these death trap looking buildings. Yet there is still plenty sense of great community in Cleveland, so I would have to say that even though we are now officially the poorest city, we still have great people to occupy it. There are always lots of great events going on downtown and in some of the smaller neighborhoods. Hopefully, if anyone cares about this city, we can pull it out from this rock bottom standing.

i haven't really been to the ghetto in either city, but i've been to both Cleveland and Detroit in the last 2 or 3 years.

in Detroit, i saw some gas station clerks chase people out of the store while cussing 'em out. there were a lot of people cussing around my car really loudly in Detroit.

in Cleveland there was a Cocaine Anonymous (CA) convention in my hotel, and i saw a homeless guy under an overpass. those were the only ghetto things i saw in Cleveland.

so it looks like Detroit wins this round. lol

I've been to Clevland ghettos before and I live just outside of Detroit - some parts are equally ghetto, but if I do say so myself, Detroit holds the trophy for the most ghetto...

I grew up in Cleveland and the ghettos are no place for any person to live. Itr is iverrun by every known drug and crime on the books. Of course, there are decent people trying to clean up the mess but they are like Don Quiote fighting a windmill

it depends on which ghetto u go to . If you go to cleveland and hit up 40th and central youd better be packing ...same as some parts of detroit like mexicantown.
They look alike to me really having lived in cleveland all my life my sis lives in detroit so ive spent time in both. Both ahve projects both have boarded up drug houses both have churches on the corner with peakers blaring the word of god on sunday mornings. And both have gang members selling rock onthe corners. LIttle corner hole in the wall stores youd never think of walking into where the clerk is carrying.
Put a hat on slouch down in your seat and lock your damn doors. About it.

Yes, they are surprisingly similar. I grew up in Cleveland and spent my summers in Detroit.
