How can i copy a cd to my hard drive using the "copy . " command
in DOS mode or command prompt?

You can type in: help copy
and see the help there, from what I see you can use

copy /n cddrive: hddrive:

cddrive is your cd drive letter: F: for example
hddrive is where you your files be copied to: like C:\MyCD\
/n is for the 8-3 short file name thingy

Dont make it so hard. I would go to my documents, create a folder (named your CD)..... Keep the window open; then I would right mouse button click the CD drive in My Computer and just drag it right into the folder you created (window is open) and it will copy automagically.

Not sure dos can address some of the file names if they exceed certain characters.

If it's an audio cd u need to extract the songs with your wmp or nero...

first, open windows media play. click rip in media player. thats it.
