1988 game 1 bottom of the 9th Dodgers down by one with one on and two outs. Gibson couldn't hardly walk to the plate he had given everything he had to give that year to get the Dodgers to the World Series. It was like a miracle when that ball left the yard. I was living in LA and the whole city exploded...I was in Van Nuys and you could hear cheering everywhere...it truly was an amazing sports moment.

A couple of other Gibson moments from that year...
Second day of spring training and someone put eye black in his cap (a common baseball prank). Gibson went straight to the shower, got dressed and went home. He called the team and told them he was there to win the World Series and would quit if his team mates were not serious about that. They got serious!

Second game at Dodger stadium in April, Gibson hit a handle shot that barely cleared that short fence near the left field foul pole. He stopped at second and wouldn't continue until all four umpires told him it was a home run. He decided he liked his new home then.

July 29th...Dodgers tied in the bottom of the 9th and Gibson gets a walk. You could just tell when he got to 1st he wasn't going to stay there long and was determined to score. Remember they didn't have much hitting that year. He stole 2nd...then stole 3rd on the next pitch...then stole home on the next pitch which was wild. He literally put that team on his back and carried them to the world championship that year.

!988 game 1 against Dennis Eckersley. Pinch hitting after not being able to walk the entire day, just kind of limped to the plate and then history. Probably one of the top 10 most dramatic home runs in major league history.

It was in 1988. He came into the game injured in the bottom of the ninth inning to pinch hit and crushed the ball to win the game.
