50 m Freestyle
Alexander Popov (Unified Team)
21.91 set at tne games in 1992, Barcelona

Why has no one broken it? Is there any real answer to that? Could be anything. I'm sure there are swimmers that can beat it who for one reason or another never made the Olympic team, or they did, but didn't swim their personal best that day, etc, etc.

First of all, it's not a world record. He holds the world record but he set it in 2000 during a special time trial at the Russian Olympic Trials. As for the Olympic record, it will be broken at Bejing. There is just too much talent in the 50 for a record like that to stand for that much longer. Cullen Jones, Roland Schoeman, Gary Hall jr, Duje Drajanja, Ryk Neethling, Fred Bousquet, Ben Wildman-Tobriner, Bart Kizerowski, and many more. Jones already posted a faster time than the Pan Pacific games and Schoeman almost broke the world record at Worlds. It will most definitely be broken.
