I don't know what time period you have in mind (if any) since rock has evolved a lot over the last 50 years so I'll give you some titles that are sprinkled across the entire rock era. You should be able to listen to all these for free on Napster, but if not there should be some sound clips on www.towerrecords.com that can give you a good idea of what these songs are. I can only presume you want songs that are very upbeat, so that's what you'll find here in my list.
OK, Here goes:
Rocking Chair Boogie - Ivory Joe Hunter (1952)
Don’t be Angry - Nappy Brown (1955)
Slow Down - Larry Williams (1957)
The Locomotion - Little Eva (1961)
Twist and Shout - The Isley Brothers (1962)
It’s all Over Now - The Rolling Stones (1964)
Incense and Peppermints - The Strawberry Alarm Clock (1967)
Whole Lotta Love - Led Zeppelin (1969)
Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man - The Bob Seger System (1969)
Shambala - Three Dog Night (1973)
We’re an American Band - Grand Funk (1973)
Shake Some Action - The Flamin Groovies (1976)
Cruel to be Kind - Nick Lowe (1979)
Walking in L.A. - Missing Persons (1983)
Land of Confusion - Genesis (1986)
Fascination Street - The Cure (1989)
Turn it On - The Flaming Lips (1992)
Stupid Girl - Garbage (1996)
Come Original - 311 (1999)
Bohemian Like You - The Dandy Warhols (2000)
Are You Gonna be My Girl - Jet (2003)
Soul Meets Body - Death Cab for Cutie (2006)
Enjoy!
