My ex quit his job 2 years ago and isn't in compliance with judge's order to provide insurance for the kids. Yet he gets a credit on child support for doing it. I now am providing the insurance and would like to recoup these costs as it isn't my legal responsibility.

You don't need a lawyer. He has a court order. All you have to do is contact the court and tell them that he is in contempt. They will handle it.

If your county has a child enforcement division, contact them. They can request the court to demand that your ex comply with the court order, or risk penalties or jail. The enforcement people are there to see that the child's best interests are addressed, and that the court order is followed. I had a lot of luck with the enforcement division here in Texas. The got results for me, collecting back child support within six weeks of me filing for enforcement, and if my ex was one day late after that he got a summons to appear.

Call them to ask how to proceed! You shouldn't have to file a lawsuit or go to any expense. The order is already there.

This depends on what state you are in. Your first step would probably be to go to the clerk of court office and ask for a "modification of child support order" or you may want to check into an order showing that he is in noncompliance with his order and request a new hearing before a judge.

Get an attorney and take it before the judge. This may be like banging your head against the wall though unless you can have money withheld from his paycheck.

Go back and talk to your lawyer. Explain what is happening and I'm sure he/she would be glad to help you.
