Pentium IV is a 'one-brain' (for lack of a better explanation here) processor. The Duo is still a single chip but it thinks it has 2 brains, there fore, it can process information much faster. It's not quite as strong as some desktop chips but it's faster. I heard there are new even tri brain type chips coming out.... so you'll never beat technology.

Pentium IV is a single processor! Pentium D is a dual processor, which means you can run two programms at once without slowing down!

pentium d is dual core . as its name signifies it can execute more than one thread(any process is divided into threads) at the same time like two processors are working whereas in p-4 only one thread is executed at a time and hence p-d is faster thab p-4
