What helps me was figuring out how much time I will probably need and then I do a small portion, like 15-30 minutes right away. That way I can relax bc I know I have a plan for later and I feel good about having a bit of work already done. (and sometimes I get into a groove and just do it all right away!)

I've been making things harder than they need to be for years! :) Wether pple like to admit it or not, procrastination is not just lazyness, it's mostly stubborness. I wanna do it when i'm in the mood! or this is so pointless! Like it or not, you can't control the fact that your assignment's due at a certain day, But you CAN make it easier and not feel like your changing yur whole personality:
This is what I did. I decided that i'd do the assignment ahead of time, but I didn't necessarily finish it. I'd do half and then do the other half at the last minute. Yeah I know, Baby steps. But I didn't have to do as much work during crunch time. Depending on your assignment , do the hardest part first. Like writting the Thesis scentence and outline for your English essay. Science and history is just busy work so you can cut that in half. Math, however, do all the easy questions. Let's say you have a work sheet with 20 questions. You can do more than half cause it's easy/ redundant. Save the few hard ones for last and do them when your ready.
I know this sounds just like more procrastinating, but be honest. You try to be more responsible and don't procrastinate for a whole week, but then you go back to yur old routine. Develp a habit of taking chunks out of your work load, and it will be much easier for you to finish what's left. Who knows maybe one day you'll ask yourself, "why am I only doing half? All i gotta do is finsh it!" Baby Steps.
ps. sorry for the ramble i just had alot of sugar (lol)

It takes 21 days to form a habit. You need to set personal goals, establish rewards for when you reach the goals, and trick yourself into forming the habit of doing your school work earlier.
It's okay to relax a little when you get home, but you should do something that isn't addictive and set a time limit. DON'T turn on the TV or the computer. Go for a walk instead to wind down or something like that.
Getting a calendar together with deadlines and a time line also helps. It's easier to make yourself responsible if you have something to look back on and truly see or measure your successes and failures.

I used to procrastinate until I found the only true remedy. You must set a time each night(the exact same time every night)to do your school work i.e.,7 pm until you are done. And you must not stray from this regimen ever. You will see your grades improve, and you might just start doing your homework right after school because one night you have plans at the time you set to do your homework. A little advice,if you have something that has to be done,do it right away because if you don't it will be in the back of your mind and you won't be able to have any fun until that something is done! GOOD LUCK

I know what you're talking about! I am a semi-procrastinator myself. However, I try really hard to focus and not daydream/sidetrack myself. I sit in my room with the doors closed and the TV off. Sometimes, I go to my school's library b/c it provides a quiet surrounding for me to focus. Don't let TV, radios, iPods, little brothers and sisters distract you. If possible, hang a DO NOT DISTURB sign on your front door.

the only thing I have found is to do the work while you're thinking about it. Don't leave school or work before the work is done. THEN go home to your comfy chairs, cheetos and evening news and relax with a clean conscience.

Make a list and prioritize. Agree to complete at least one task on your list daily. Make up some type of consequence if you don't do it (i.e. take away time doing something you enjoy). Reward yourself if you complete your task, and a bigger reward if you do more than expected.
Start with small steps then progress as you get better at it.
Make a list of reasons you should do it now and a list of things that will happen if you put it off.
Good Luck.

The best thing is to really force yourself to do the work, against what you really want to do. It may help to make a goal out of doing work as soon as possible and write it down.
