Well, for one thing, I don't like answers such as amyrha's. "To serve and praise God and to live according to his purpose."

It's like answering a question with a question. So what is God's purpose? What does he want from or out of us?

This is a great question. One I've been wrestling with this one for many years. I've come to the conclusion he wants proven character. And he isn't anywhere near as concerned about our happiness as he is about our character. He wants us to be like him (holy - look it up). We don't get that way unless we are tested. "Perseverance leads to proven character and proven character hope. And hope does not disappoint ... ."

His goal for us answers a lot of questions, such as:
1. Why are women and men so different and clash as couples so often? Perseverance leads to proven character.
2. Why does everything in life try our patience? Perserverence leads to proven character.
3. Why does a toddler go through the terrible twos? Perserverence leads to proven character.
4. Why do women age faster than men? Perserverence leads to proven character.
5. Why do women go through menapause and why do their bodies change so much? Perserverence leads to proven character.
6. Why does old age have to be so hard and everything break down all the time? Perserverence leads to proven character.
7. Why is life a *****? Perserverence leads to proven character.

Well, I can't tell you that. You are your own person with different needs and desires and overall just an individual. Your meaning of life will be different than mine, and I can't tell you what to think. Someone's "meaning" could be to love as much as they can, or maybe to teach and educate the world, or to defend others. That's they're meaning for them and what they think their purpose and meaningfull existance is for. Do you believe in god? Did he/she/they put you here for a reason? Do we die and go to heaven, nirvana, are reincarnated, or just lose all consciousness? These are for you to decide, so is your meaning to find in life. I can't tell you what your's is and nobody can tell you. They can give their opinion, but you have to find your yourself.

Well, I gave an answer to a similar question, so here's a similar answer. After having lived life well, at the end of my days when Death smiles at me, I want to smile back. Who knows? Maybe that'll confuse the old guy and I'll be left alone to have some more fun...........well you can always hope. The meaning is simple, live.

Nirvana comes when I am able to deaden my lust, greed, jelousy, desire. Human existance is suffering and suffering comes from want. Key to learn not to want and reach a higher level of existance. Once achieved the answer will be both self-evident and irrelevent
