soak it in hot water and leave it for a few minutes. Then scrub away! I've been doing this for years being Asian and all(I eat rice all the time).

This is a terrible problem that seems to have happened to everyone I know! When it happened to me, I first used oven cleaner, which jelped a little. Then a sales person at Williams Sonoma told me to put some water in, add dishwasher detergent, and boil it on the stove. This worked better. I had to do this a few times, and then the pot was usable. The remaining reside isn't going to contaminate food if it won't even scrub or boil off. Little by little, it gets cleaner with every wash.

Try cleaning with salt. If it does not go the first time soak it overnight in salt water. Put one tablespoon of salt and pour water till stain is covered (add more salt if the container is big) and try to scrub the next morning). It usually works for me.

A product called "Nevr-Dull" magic wadding polish. This will clean that container right up in no time. It is readily available at most hardware or automotive stores in your area. Plus it's handy to have around for those rusty car cleaning jobs one dreads doing. It is good on all kinds of metals and washed clean with soap & water.

That's a toughie! If the pto is not aluminum, try Easy Off oven cleaner. Spray on the dry pot, let sit a few hours, then scrub w/ Brillo.

Buy some stainless steel polish....readily available at supermarkets. It comes in powder form and you have to rub it in with a damp cloth. Make sure you rinse well.

Believe it or not but it will eventually come off if you keep using it. Boil water in it every so often until the burnt taste can not be detected. Then use again and again and it will come off.
