Divorce should occur when someone is being abused physically and or there are other forms of abuse that harm families. Chronic cheating and not taking of the home are reasons for divorce. The main reason to divorce is to obtain happiness and a peaceful home life.

If you're single, Freedom to start over and reflect and learn from your mistakes. Not too many if you have kids. Yes, you get away from the moment of arguments and dysfunction. But, if you have kids you will never get away. I know. You will always have to deal with the spouse because they have legal rights to bein involved and make decisions on just about everything in that child's life...then you have no say in what spouse they remarry and then your child has a step-parent that may not be so good to your child. And, if you aren't seeing eye to eye now, it only gets worse and worse and worse. Trust me, get marriage counseling...do what you can to salvage what's left and rebuild one day at a time.
