My Mustang hates the saddle, so yes, it is better to go bareback - when riding a horse!

It depends on how experianced a rider you are and the temperment of the horse. If you are inexperianced at riding and/or are not familiar with the horse, you are better off using a saddle. It will give you more control of your body while riding.

It depends, if Im going on trail rides, I like saddles, cuz youre more secure when running or trotting, more control, but, as for bare back, about the only time I do that is, like in the arenas...

Well, either of those provides a better view than if you ride behind in a wagon.
(Important note: when a horse raises her tail, it's not because she is happy to see you.)
