it was a wise move...no reason to risk a lead with a possible tired pitcher...and it worked out great

Myers is our specialty guy. We bring him in for one batter, to maybe face a guy like Ortiz from the Red Sox. Torre may have known that Wang was done after 7 and just decided to let Myers do the dirty work. Could have been many reasons, from wanting Myers to face a tough out, or limiting the number of pitches Wang threw, or getting Myers some post season experience.

Either way, aside from Wang, Mussina, Rivera and sometimes Proctor, I don't trust our other pitchers.

Because Torre is beyond his time for replacement.....I have stated this since losing to the Marlins several years back......bases juiced...8 inning & game tied.....Boone at the plate.....and Mariano (Lights out) Rivera in the bullpen....instead of squeezing a run in I guess he assumed that Boone would do what he did against Wakefield......nope...he swung like "Tiger Woods' teeing off and either struck out or popped up.....next guy pops up.....they go to extra innings and Cabrera hits the winner.......TORRE is done people.....wake up and smell the losses......this is from the WORLD'S BIGGEST YANKEE FAN"....this is "The Mick" pay attention....they will still win it inspite of him this year...maybe he'll retire and we can bring in Lou Pinella before someone picks him up!!!! GO YANKEES!

So that he could rest him, in case they need him again, and if you take a pitcher out, in the middle of an inning, he gets to walk to the dugout, and the fans can cheer him, for doing a good job. Joe, has always done that, and the pitchers appreciate it..

I suspect he wanted him to leave the field to a standing ovation, which he received, as a way to build his confidence.
Had he left after the inning was over he would have missed it.

I was asking myself that question. I guess it's because they wanted Myers to pitch the the left-handed hitter, Granderson. It really worked, didn't it?
