I have terribly oily skin, too. I've tried just about everything that has been suggested here, so based on my experience, here's my advice:

1. Everyone's skin is different, so what works for one, may not work for all.

2. DO NOT USE Noxzema on oily skin. Any oil-based product will simply worsen your problem.

3. Drinking a lot of water really helps. I'm over 30 and just started drinking water a couple of months ago, and the difference is quite noticeable.

4. Although most products won't actually decrease the oil your skin produces, those blotter sheets will really help get the shine off your face.

5. I use Proactiv. I've learned that it, and most other products, will work for a while, but after a couple of months your skin gets used to it and goes right back to being oily. The Proactiv Oil Control and Oil-Free Moisturizer really worked wonders on my skin. But, like I said, after a couple of months, it went right back to normal.

6. Witch Hazel really is a great astringent. At my local drug store, you can get two bottles for $1.

7. ALWAYS moisturize. Everyone who said that overwashing, or drying out your skin causes it to work overtime to produce oil was absolutely right.

8. Toothpaste really does dry out pimples.

The bottom line is, regardless of what product you choose, try to drink a lot of water, use oil-free moisturizer every time you wash your face, and use blotter sheets to absorb the shine.

I have oily skin and cannot use benzyol peroxide (like oxy or clearasil) I use Neutrogena Creamy Acne Wash (in the tube, not the pump bottle) since it has salicylic acid. The walmart brand of this works good too ("Equate"). Then I use Clinique oil free moisturizer gel. Clean and Clear makes some good oil free moisturizer too. It works great for me. Don't scrub too much. You can throw a little baking soda in your regular cleanser for a little abrasive if you think you need it. You MUST moisturize or else your skin is so dry and tight that the oil can't escape and causes pimples. Proactive is really good stuff but a little more expensive. But hey, it's your face so splurge on that before anything else. You can get bad scarring from acne.

I know you received many answers but many of them just not going to help you.
The reason your face is so oily because you over-cleansing it.
1. Stop using scrub, just eliminate the use of it to one time a week.
2. Use gentle cleanser not abrasive because it just stripping your skin of its natural oil and it tries to compensate it. And that's why you are oily. On days that you don't wear make-up cleanse with Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.
3. You still need to moisturize. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizer is really great. Especially when your skin is over-processed.
And right now Macy's has a bonus time at Clinique counter. Go there and get that moisturizer, it is not expensive. You spend only $21.50 and you will get a gift (2 moisturizers, 3 pallets of eye shadow, lipstick, lip gloss and a nice cosmetic bag). Good luck!

This WORKS!! "Dr. Bronner's 18-in-1 Pure-Castile Soap", if you can't find it, try drugstore.com. I ran into it by accident, but this soap is organic and doesn't have all the chemicals like regular soap does. I truly believe that the acne creams and soaps causes our skin to break out, because they over dry our skin! I had acne my whole life, but this if the only thing that works for me. I now use it as shampoo and all over my body. The bottle is under 10 dollars and it last forever, you can put a little and it lathers up really good. The first time you use it you'll notice the difference, because your skin just feels clean. NO residue, NO over dryness, NO smell, just a clean feeling I've never felt. I know you keep hearing promises, but ORGANIC is the way!

I know how you feel. I've been struggling with oily skin and acne forever! I've tried so many products from high end (like Sisley) to low end (Purpose). I have finally come across an excellent soap for my skin which works wonders for my skin. It's from this small company called Splash (www.splashbathandbody) - they make this soap called Claytime Complexion which is amazing. There are no weird chemicals in there. It is basically french clay (to help dry out exisitng acne and keep skin clean and prevent) and chamomile (which is going to soothe your skin and help fade old acne scars). I LOVE it. My skin is looking a lot better than before. A huge plus is that it is CHEAP! It is sold by the pound. So a typical bar is like $5 and that will last you around 2 months or so. I've also been using their toner and spot treatment, but the soap is AMAZING. I've made samples of the bars I have and sent them to friends and they all love it! Try it!!

Benzoil peroxide wash and drink at least 6-8 cups of purified water a day.
The scrub is probably aggrivating your skin by creating micro tears in your skin inviting in all types of bacteria.
The benzoil perxoide forces oxygen into your skin which kills the bacteria and therefore will clear up your skin. You will be very dry and perhaps a little flaky at first, but get a nice hydrator and you'll be set.
Most important, however, keep your hands off your face!

ok i just got done with the integumentary system in class and we are learning at a nurse curiculum and the excessive oil is caused by an excess of sebum secretion. There are various types of acne if you have the mild one i recommend buying this soap called Azufre but you only find it in a store called "fiesta food warehouse" that i know of, you can use it minimumly for 2 times a day. Use hot water when rinsing then quickly turn cold so that the pores can open up. If your acne is really bad i would use Yves Rocher products http://www.yves-rocher.com/ my mom used Mary Kay and it really did mess up her skin you need to specifically know the type of skin you have to try those products especially if you have sensitive skin. these are some thing i would try i used the soap and my face cleared off in a month or so.

Both my boyfriend and I use this regimen and it works great. Go to Wal-Mart. Buy Clean and Clear Advantage Acne Cleanser. Buy the Equate Astringent. Buy Neutrogena On-The-Spot Acne Treatment (Only buy this one- it contains a lower amount of benzoyl peroxide and doesn't irritate your skin the way Clearasil does--irritation=breakouts... Also, its the same ingredient and same % as Proactiv). Use the Neutrogena all over your face instead of just your pimples (again, same as Proactiv). Use the astringent following cleansing and before applying Neutrogena and/or during the day. If your face feels dry, buy an oil-free moisturizer(this is the only thing that is kinda pricey) try Cetaphil.
VERY CHEAP, VERY EFFECTIVE!!!!! Good Luck!!!!

Don't scrub too hard because it just makes more oils come out and clog pores which is what acne/pimples are. The key is controlling the oil and bacteria. Use a mild soap/cleanser like black opal blemish control bar or Cetaphil (or storebrand equivalent-I recommend equate at Walmart) bar or liquid cleanser, witch hazel for an astringent, clean & clear acne gel with salyicilic acid, and an oil free moisturizer. Or also at Walmart is a kit called University Medical Acne Free (orange/blue/white box). It's about j$18.00 and lasts about 2-3 months. Works wonders and I swear by it for myself and my son. You can get the double size at Sam's Club for about $10 more.

I am a Mary Kay consultant, so I will try to help you out here. First of all if you are using soap, that is a no no. That can actually do more harm to the skin. We have a line of products, depending on your age, that works really well, & yes the acne treatment gel is excellent. I am not just saying this as a consultant, because I have tried several things including Avon (which I used to sell), & I would not trade my Mary Kay products for nothing else. Plus there are products for all skin types.
