my friend is trying to get rid of his $1500 mattress and he's offering it for almost half price. The only problem is that it has a smokey smell to it. It is a memory foam mattress..almost brand new........is there any way to get rid of the scent?

You might try the fabric refresher extra-strength. It eliminates odors safely on fabrics. It is made by Personal Care Products, Inc. I think I bought it at Walmart. I have used this and it makes things smell nice and fresh. If you don't find this certain brand, look around in the isle because there is another one I have seen advertised to use on carpets, upholstery, drapes etc,.but don't remember the brand. Other wise I don't know what you would do. I don't have a memory foam mattress, but do have a 2 inch memory foam pad over my mattress. I don't smoke but I keep a good fitting cotton
mattress pad over it. Hope this helps!

The best thing I've ever found for that is to air it out outside for a few days. My parents were smokers and when I moved out I tried everything, and putting it on my back porch for a few days seemed to work the best.

Good luck!

LOTS of frebreeze (the extra strength kind). Spray it - let it dry - spray it again. Just do it several times over the course of a day or so. IT WORKS. We just recently stopped smoking inside of our home, and I used that on all the furniture, and it worked wonders.
