Based on my previous question - I think my car died. I need a car for 6 months. I am moving out of the country for work (Europe) and won't be taking a car with me. What do you think my best option for transportation is for the next six months? Should I buy one? Paying tax, title, license and all that seems like such a waste of money.

Try to find a relay cheep piece of crap that doesn't need much to get it on the road. After 6 months, sell it. This should recoup the money that you put into it.

Go to a police auction, a salvage yard, random autoshops, etc. and find a cheap reliable car. My cousin got an 87 Chevy Nova for 400 dollars at a police auction and it gets 30 mpg and needed almost no maintainance.
