I doubt it. I do feel with all the immaturity of the young, one year military duty would do all of them good. Not active, but learning respect and how to take orders.

First of all the dems have been talking about re-instating the draft since we went to Afgh. But...lets look at this, we have over 140,000 troops in the Middle-east arena already, should somthing happen say with Iran, we have then already in place, plus we have Isreal and her nukes.
Now in should N. Korea start her little war, which she seems itching to do, we already have I believe about 37,000 troops in S. Korea which have been stationed there for about 30 years, we also have Japan bases, and other S. Pacific bases.
If we should re instate the draft, which I find almost out of the question, it would be really something to see these big mouthed guys and gals for that matter who talk a big line about how this should be done and that, to see just what they would do. It would certainly be ........hard.
I personally am not in for a draft. There is no need, we have wonderful men and women who know what they are in the service for and I perfer a man and woman who know what it takes to be at the line of duty for me, mine and ours, than someone who couldnt give a sh....t and perfer to have somebody else fight and die for him, than he for them.

you will desire to comprehend that it is going to likely be Congress, not President Bush, who might convey approximately this way of degree. The President can not reinstate a draft. He can propose the assumption, yet whilst maximum folk of Congress would not help it, then there is not any conscription. that communicate approximately reinstating the draft is in simple terms nonsense. you have fairly no reason to worry being conscripted, at your youthful age. If there ever is a conscription and you worry you would be eligible, even nonetheless, you will desire to besides enlist earlier being conscripted: this way, you have slightly extra administration over what precisely you will do interior the army.

Our leaders, regardless of what political party is in power, will do what they have to do in a state of war. At that time, law-abiding citizens will report for duty and draft dodgers will run for Canada, as they have done before.
We can prevent another draft by hammering the terrorists until such time as legitimate governments and militias are able to take over.

If the military draft were initiated 75% of the people (from the USA) that are on this Q and A would run to Canada.

It would never happen in modern day society. The American people are far more liberal than they were in decades past. We would not allow our families to be sent to the battlefield against their will in this day and age. Surprisingly, many young men and women are enlisting despite the fact (or even in light of the fact) that we are at war. A draft would not even be necessary.

Honestly, if you don't want a draft, then don't vote Democratic. They are the only ones talking about the idea. Charlie Wrangle (sp?) has been talking about it for almost two years now! There is no logical reason for a draft. In 2004, President Bush said he saw no reason for a draft in the debates with Kerry. And really, I just think it's one of the Democrats scaring points, they aren't really serious.

I don't think that will happen. Bush and his bunch will will be out off office and the wars overseas will end soon.
If you are against the war go to the big antiwar protest in your city on the 5th of October.
