It could be something as simple as a broken wire from the master switch. Or it could be that the rod has jumped out of the clip that holds it in place.
Do you hear anything trying to move when you hit the button to lock/unlock?
If you don't then check to make sure you are getting power to that switch. If you are not getting power then check the wiring. If you are getting power and hear nothing trying to operate it's the switch. If you are getting power and hear it trying to move then you need to remove panel and check for the rod placement.
All that said, it really isn't that hard to fix.

usually they just pop out of the door panel and unplug it put the new one on ten minute job.

not if your mechanically inclined ....lol... its really easy and any one who has basic hand tools can do it in about an hour in their driveway
