Hmmm... the Lemony Snicket books are hardly novels, are they?

Well, strangely enough, I would have to say The Phantom of the Opera. It's a tragic tale of a hideously deformed musical genius, forced below the cellars of an opera house, unloved and unwanted. He falls in live with the beautiful and talented Christine Daae, but he can never have her, for she loves another: The handsome and rich, Raoul, Vicomte deChagny.
Other then that, the book is unintentionally FUNNY. Raoul is a stupid, naive young man, who deseves nothing less then to sing "If I Only Had a Brain". Christine is an equally stupid little brat who seems to enjoy keeping her two lovers guessing until the very end (She seems upset that they don't like it). Erik, the Phantom, has a wickedly sarcastic sense of humor, and is pretty amusing. The managers, Richard and Moncharmin, are the best part, though. They aren't the brightest bulbs in the pack, and... well. they just aren't right.
