I live in an apartment complex of 326 units. There is a full time maintanece staff of at least 2. I put in a request a month ago for A/C but it was never filled. The weather went cold so I didn't think to much of it. The request to get the porch light fixed took 3 days but the request to fix the dishwasher was put in over a week ago. So should I be a sqeaky wheel or should I wait a little longer?

I worked as a maintenance man for a long time. The old saying is true the way to a man's heart is through his stomache. Bake him cookies one time for fixing a problem and you will never ever wait again. You simply mention something doesn't seem right and he will be there. It seemed like everyone was always mad at me, and I didn't break their things, I was there to fix them. So show him you appreciate him and you will have a friend for life and no maintenance problems.

I worked as a maintenance tech for a long time and I know that problems get solve a lot faster if you keep insisting (It works better if you send a letter or e-mail, because at that point there is a hard copy of your request). Believe me, loud wheels get greased a lot faster and better than those that don't make a lot of noise.
Good Luck!!

Squeak away. Your a/c should of been fixed along time ago. Your dishwasher should of been fixed last week. Talk to your landlord and find out what is goin on. Once My building was out of hot water for 1 week cuz of some stupid hot water heate.turns out landlord had to special order one.. so there could be a tie up but u still need to call and find out what is goin on.

You should not wait longer than 48 hours before sounding the bell loud and clear. Your lease should specify how much time the landlord has to resolve your problems. Hold them to it.
