How long does it take to insert it?

I have an appointment for later on this month to have a Mirena IUD inserted. I have been researching it, but the only thing I've found is that you might "cramp" for a few hours.

Insertion takes just a few minutes.

It's like really severe period cramps. The worst of it is during the insertion. They fade after a couple of hours and go away.

I had the non-hormone IUD for ten years. It used to be superb for me, no pregnancies. The insertion used to be uncomfortable, no longer painful. I had slight cramping for approximately ten days afterwards. Psychologically it used to be unusual to grasp that there used to be a overseas item in my frame, however I finally forgot approximately it. The string (or plastic string) is anything that demands to be checked per thirty days to be certain that your frame has no longer mysteriously ejected the IUD. The non-hormone variety of IUD will develop menstrual interval waft and period. There will also be bleeding throughout sex. I have heard that the hormone laced one can have the reverse final result (for the menstrual side) however investigate a few assets as I am no longer optimistic. I additionally heard that the hormones are extra localized, so the usual hormone part impacts that different hormone centered delivery controls have won't occur. IUDs are excellent even as in a monogamous courting, as they don't look after in opposition to STDs. It is great to make use of a condom at the side of the IUD. The IUD is a superb being pregnant preventative for individuals who have challenge remembering to take a capsule.

the insertion is quick, faster than a pap smear. some people hardly cramp at all and for others it is worse. have your dr give you a rx for motrin or ibuprofen (spelling?) to take before you go in to have it placed that should really help
