To me, Connery was definitive. I'll go even further by saying that Bond NEEDS to be set during the Cold War, specifically the 1960's.

Yep, Sean Connery IS James Bond.
Roger Moore's alright but I kinda like Timothy Dalton. He was sort of world-weary, which was appropriate for the late 80s-early 90s. Pierce Brosnan has grown on me. I don't even know who the new James Bond is.

And yes, I agree that it's best when set in the 60s but ... you can't stay there forever.

110% connery is the best there ever was or ever will be, he is bond, james bond, i think after he stopped being bond, the bond series should have just stopped, any others are cheap impersonations and wanna-bes, this new guy, i'm not even gonna bother going to see it, i wont watch a bond flck if connery is not bond, its like watching michael j fox play the terminator, givin, fox is a pretty good actor, but hes not arnold, and never will be arnold

I also believe Sean Connery was the best James Bond, Roger Moore closely following at second. It'll be interesting to see the new actor portray Bond, as he doesn't really strike me as a suave, debonair guy, which is how I would attribute 007.

Sean Connery, hands down. But I'm super excited to see Daniel Craig as the new Bond. He's a terrific actor, and I'm curious to see how he handles it.

Golden eye I thought was the best and most entertaining movie.
But... that's not really what you asked.

I personally thought Connery was alright/so-so, but the overall best Bond would hands down (in my opinion) be Roger Moore.
