I am seeking challenging games for my NES system.
I just love the difficulty...that's all.

Just brought blaster master and ghost 'n gobolins. Wow...these are quite hard.
Both zelda games does not seem hard to me though.

there is a nearly impossible game - if you don't look for help. it's actually also rated as the worst nes game. heroes of the lance.
dragon warrior IV was a great RPG, better than final fantasy, which is saying a LOT, with the love i have for that first game. dragon warrior III was also excellent.
from what i understand, blaster master was quite difficult. i have it... but i've never played it.
playing contra without the 30 lives code is difficult
ghosts and goblins - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghosts_'n_Goblins - is far and wide considered one of the most difficult nes games

The hardest game that i have ever played would have to be blaster master because it featured a very hard water board

by far the hardest game for NES was final fantasy 1. it was just introducing the gaming world to very long rpg games and had just enough vagueness to get you lost out of your mind. If i had to pick a second place game it would definately be dragon warriors. this was also very hard and no one ever told you where to go next.

i would have to say the legend of zelda 2 links adventure because there is a lot of stuff to find and the gameplay is pretty tough on bosses also
