Scientology, at the higher levels, teaches that 75 million years ago, the dark lord Xenu, an alien ruler of the "Galactic Confederacy", brought billions of people to Earth in spacecraft resembling Douglas DC-8 airliners, stacked them around volcanoes and blew them up with hydrogen bombs. Their souls then clustered together and stuck to the bodies of the living. The alien souls continue to do this today, causing a variety of physical ill-effects in modern-day humans. Hubbard called these clustered spirits "Body Thetans," and the advanced levels place considerable emphasis on isolating them and neutralizing their ill effects.

No, I'm not making this up. This is what those poor suckers have to pay thousands of dollars, before they're "ready" to learn the "truth"...

From what I read, this is a "religion" that L. Ron Hubbard invented sometime in the 1950's. It funnels people into the scientology camp, where they have to spend a ton of money to get programmed to spend a lot of money on the religion. If you're at all interested in it, please do some searches on the net about it and about scientology. What you find will probably scare you!
