Well, what I have noticed was that those magic eraser, they take the gloss of with just water and rubbing. I found that out when my 2 year old took crayons to our newly painted living room. Also if you put a little tiny bit of scouring powder on it, it will help alot.I would suggest the generic brand from the dollar store, two for a dollar.
Or you can save yourself the trouble and buy flat paint.

If you are talking before you paint with it, just add flat paint to the gloss paint until you like the looks

You could always just use sandpaper and scratch it up enough to make it dull.
