Heres the quesion:
The Combat of the Revolutionary war began in spring 1775. Why did colonists wait until the summer of 1776 to declare independance?

Here are my three reasons (they can be changed if there is something better)
It was a Minority movement
colonies could get Forgen Aid from France
Wanted to contenue trade with England

An example intro would be lovely!

I may be wrong but during those years wars were waged when the sowing or harvesting season was done. Winter would be difficult as heavy guns would bog down in the mud. Summer would be ideal as weather and conditions are at its best.

The other reason is, communications were primitive and the militia has to be assembled from the flung out areas of the colonies.

It would be logical to assume that the menfolk would be reluctant to leave their fields at crucial periods of the growing seasons and farmers won't respond until they were sure of facts..

The battles fought around that time between1774 and 1776 were almost certainly skirmishes by today's standards. They played a crucial part. Concord, Lexington, Bunker Hill and others. It was telling on the British as, even though the British had the upperhand, the battles aroused and fanned the flames of Independance among the settlers.

The declaration of independence would have been seen by all as a decisive move with no turning back. This act was a do or die move that rallied the settlers.

ok. to write a good thesis on this subject, you need to know about "the shot heard round the world", or the battle of bunker hill.

it was fought in April of 1775. this battle was lead up to by the boston massacre, boston tea party, and other colonist protest against british rule.

the significance of this battle is that up until then, despite their conflict with great britain, the colonists still considered themselves a part of the royal empire.
they just wanted some say in the taxes ("taxation.. representation", you know)

im getting to a point, i promise!

ok, so after the battle of bunker hill, a very intuitive man, thomas paine, wrote a booklet entilled "common sense" in 1776.
in his writing , he prompted the colonists to make up their minds: did they still wish to be loyal to the crown?/ or, were they ready for a full-out revoultion??

long story short: they said yea to revolution.

so, in June of 1776, the members of the Philadelphia Congress had a meeting. while there, Richard Henry Lee made the famous notion that "these United Colonies are, and of right ought to be, free and independent states...." (june 7)

keep reading! i promise it gets good!

the delegates talked it out and decided it was good. (july 2) technically, this "declaration of independence was all they needed to sever british ties.

however, they decided also that it would behoove them to address forigne aid and domestic assistance so, they (thomas jefferson) wrote up a more formal statement to give to the king.

this Declaration of Independence, signed July 4, 1776 was formally approved by Congress on this day.

recap:
1. they (colonists) had to make up their minds
2. they wrote up a statement of their freedom from the crown
3. they signed it.
4. THEY TALKED ABOUT EVERY LAST DETAIL EVERY STEP OF THE WAY

AND THAT"S WHY IT TOOK THEM SO LONG!

o yea!
EXAMPLE INTRO:
"because of the colonists' need to decide their allegiance with britain, the official signing of the declaration of independence was delayed"

it's lengthy i know, but trust me the more info you have, the better it is to form your own opinion.

i hope this helps!

I accept as true with the previous remark which you may ask your instructor to be particular approximately what you may restoration, yet i might ask your self those questions: how did the French and NA populations work together? Did the French colonists commerce with the NA? Is there information for a greater helpful view of NAs interior the French factors than interior the British colonies? What information is there that the British held a detrimental view of the NAs? What particular incidents happened to make it look that the British considered the NAs as adversarial? check out the links below for some commencing factors, yet be careful to not count completely on wikipedia (that's comparable to this website, with uncomplicated human beings only writing what they be attentive to, so examine your information). i'm hoping this helps!
