I've had 2 central vacs in different homes that were built, was over $1000 /labor.There has to be wires run into the walls as well as pipes and outlets. Easier done when building is going on & walls are not closed up is the ideal way to install. The pipes that carry the dirt & debris away has to be attached just right or it will collapse when the suction begins.
There are so many independent electricians/builders needing work now, & I would recommend you call a reputable one and have them come out & give an estimate, ask for references and get it in writing before the work is started. Pay by check so you'll have a receipt and get a contract WITH THEIR SIGNATURE, don't forget to date the paper work...its just safe business for both parties.

Depending on where you live, a professional central vacuum installation can cost anywhere from $100-$250 per inlet. An average cost of a 'Do it Yourself' central vacuum installation is approximately $30-$40 per inlet.
There are professional installers like in A-1 Vacuum center that provide professional installation by trained, experienced installers

Nutone makes them and Sears sells Kenmore vac systems too. Have one for years. Grew up with one over 40 years ago.
