Define friends, if it is anyone I hang out around for fun, then I have to admit I have made some friends here on yahoo. Maybe I don't choose them carefully, we just bump into each and have some fun. I don't think you choose a friend, I never have, I just find someone I like to be around and whose company I enjoy whether it is in real life or here in cyberspace. Good question thanks, made me try to figure out what a friend is. I have never been really unhappy with a friend, sometimes we just don't know each other for very long.
Do You? choose your friends? I wonder D/W, how would you answer your own questions?

I'm friendly with just about everyone I meet. I have some close friends and they are the ones I confide in. I have a couple of very close friends who know all my secrets.
I have made some unwise choices in the friend department from time to time. I confided in some "unsafe" people. Learned my lesson well. I think I'm intuitive about people and do a fairly good job of choosing safe people for friendship. Took some practice.

Yes I do, You can choose your friends, unlike your family. Trust is a major factor for friendship, it takes a long time to build it. As the saying goes, you will only have a handful of true friends in your life, that no matter what they will stand by you. And for the most part, I am happy with my choice of friends, we don't have to talk for months, but we are always there for each other, no matter what. You have to be a true friend in order to have true friends.

I used to have poor judgement on choosing friends in high school. It's such a difficult time and everyone is trying to fit in. I finally got away from those people when I graduated, and now, since I am in the working world, I choose friends better. Most of my friends are people that I work with, but a few of them are friends from years and years ago!

I have many acquaintences, but only a few I consider to be "friends". There is a big difference.....
I tend to trust people I meet until they give me reason to distrust.
Acquaintences are just people that I know...and have conversations with. Friends are people that I call when I need cheering up, advise, or to cheer them up.
There has to be a common bond from both sides.....then the friendship grows and memories are made.

I choose friends very carefully. We don't have to have the same values and beliefs, but my friends do have to be kind, caring, and supportive of others - especially me!

The close ones? The ones I "let in?" Yes......I choose them very carefully. It's not easy to let people "in." So when I do.......I so have to make sure they are sincere in their intentions.
I have a best friend that has, without a doubt, restored my faith in people for always! :)

I am normally a good judge of character, but the friends I have gathered through the other half, I thought were good friends but have turned out to be complete garbage in my estimation.

I have been pretty lucky with my choice of friends. Still keep in touch with lots of em (I have moved around a lot, so they're all over the place).
