I'm not sure what's wrong, but I've been thinking about cutting. I've used pins to hurt myself once before and it hurt and did not necessarily make me feel better. Nevertheless, when I get upset, I think about cutting myself. I especially want to do it when I hear about others doing it or see cuts on others. For some reason it makes me feel like cutting myself is the answer. What's wrong with me?

Please get help.

I know a lot of people have thoughts of hurting themselves, but this sounds a little extreme to me. People who cut do so for a number of reasons, but depression is high among them. Cutting yourself is not the answer, please, please, please get help.

Nothing is expressly wrong with you, but you obviously need to talk this out with someone who knows what they're talking about, preferably a psychologist.

The fact that you're posting on here indicates to me that you're willing to talk about it and take advice, so do so with a professional instead of the people on here. You owe it to yourself.

Contrary to what the idiot above me thinks IT IS NOT GUILT.

YOU HAVE DONE NOTHING WRONG. DEPRESSION IS NOT A PUNISHMENT.

Please, don't fall into that trap.

And this is why you shouldn't rely on the words of strangers, but instead on those of someone who knows what they're talking about.

Please, find someone you trust, a councilor, a priest, a psychologist, your doctor, ANYONE, and talk this out with them.

Please.

YOU HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING WRONG.

You need to speak to a professional. You can work through whats making you feel like this but you have to open up about it. Just think of the regret and PERMANENT reminder you will have when you have managed to overcome this. Speak to a friend/close relative/counsellor about how you feel. Your feelings are important and should be listened to, but do it soon before you take this too far. You would be at risk of lots of things like infection, blood disease, worse psychological problems.....the list goes on. Go see someone today and get some things off your chest. It won't happen overnight but you need support. Good luck.

I want to so much urge you to go see a psychiatrist and then try to see a therapist at the same time. Cutting is a destructive behavior and comes from having Borderline Personality Disorder. When we get into a crisis mode, and think we cannot handle things, we do things that may result in injury to ourselves or others. In my opinion, it is mostly injury to ourselves.
I hope you can get some help honey. You can send me a message if you like.

Hi Dear,

according to my thoughts and feelings , There is nothing wrong with you.

but the situation can get worse if u continue to think and do like that.
First of all, let me tell you a simple thing, all / any actions we perform is due to 'fear', 'hate','anger'..and few more emotions. sometimes also for 'fun' or for 'satisfaction'. u have stated that "sometimes it makes u feel better"....not always.

U want to hurt your self just because one of the emotions getting unbalanced, just think(it may be true) you were watching a good comedy movie, or cartoon, u were bursting out with laughs on the jokes, popping out of the sofa, having good time, and suddenly u felt like "lets cut myself, i 'may' feel better" ..I think after reading this you will say "no,it is never like that" .....thats it.

can u think to extend the cutting, as to put a knife into your eye ball, or to take a chopper and chop off your fingure(s)...NO WAY FRIEND.......its DEFINATLY NOT LIKE THAT.

so what u say ..its not the answer.........-I feel like cutting myself.

plz give it a serious thought that "why i dont think of it every time"

however the answer is because it is just you are courious(and to be curious is good, but the actions taken to clear it must not touch extreme level),
If it is like this then just try not to think about any instrument u use for cutting your self or the things which make u to do like that. and if u feel like, try to simply switch your mind to different things related to some other issues.

try one more activity, take a very good movie or a book which u like most, which takes u with it, take a pin in your hand while watching/reading it. I bet u will not do any cutting/hurting to your self, because u r feeling good, so kindly try to feel good and better, that will definatly balance your emotions

try to balance yopur self, divert your emotions whenu feel any emotion it getting heavier.

well, I know that to say is way too easy, but try it.
if it helps you, well and good, it not then i may be wrong, and really sorry to comment.

regards.

Whats wrong is you want to cut yourself. You really need to get help. Nobody looks down upon it and if anything they should think more highly of you because you were able to accept that something is wrong and trying to fix it yourself is not helping. There are plenty of people in this world that get psychological help and that does not label them as a head case. If something is serious like this, which would harm you, you really need to get help.

I get upset and I used to want to cut myself, end my life, the whole deal. But now I don't really want to do that anymore. I take my troubles and pain to God, or I just deal with them. But I'm getting to where I take them to God now, because I've drawn closer to Him and trust him to take my pain. And He does! So I don't think of this anymore. Seriously, you should check out a Bible-believing church that preaches the truth (Jesus is the only Son of God, the only way to God, who died for the sins of people, and you, so they would be forgiven because he loved them and cared for them).

Even if you don't go to church, know that God is with you and there for you. Whenever you have cutting thoughts, give them to God. Pretend it's a package you're giving to him. I hope you find comfort and ease in God.

a study i heard somewhere...i forgot but like 1 outta every 5 college students cut themselves, Im a junior and havent seen or heard anything firsthand about cutting, so I dont understand it at ALL, but it sounds somewhat common. I can bet its like a drug, not a good habit to start and leaves a lot more visible scars than any drugs or alcohol(well unless you shoot up like a feind).

The article on this website might help.
http://www.kidshealth.org/teen/your_mind/mental_health/cutting.html

It explains why people start the habit of cutting about halfway through, and it talks about how to quit near the end.

You can't control the unconscious. Sometimes, you read a book, do you notice that your hands are doing something else? Unconscious make people can't handle their actions. You might have a really bad stress or something, and maybe your brain was telling you about it.

You are not abnormal. You do have something wrong which you need to seek help for. Cutting is a symptom of a bigger problem..usually some type of depression. Please seek out some therapy.
