I would imagine you could wire it to a nine volt battery and that might be enough juice to fry it, but I'm not sure how that will help your problem. Your phone number is your identifier for the wierdo sending you messages, so if the sim gets replaced but the number stays the same, the messages will continue.

Why don't you just do what you planned - change the SIM card and tell him the old one doesn't work? You can throw it in the drawer or somewhere.

Is it because you want to switch it back on later on another phone, so you can continue to receive calls on your old SIM card?

Or why don't you just explain to your husband about the calls from someone you don't know? Why should he freak out?

Unless there's something else going on which you're not telling us about.

make it so that your phone requires a password to log onto it... and then turn it off, then back on again, get the password wrong several times, and eventually it will say sim card rejected and it will fry the sim card. My daughter has done this to her cell phone 2 times. You may also be able to take it to whoever your provider is and get a new one. I know cingular will work with you and give you a new one usually.

Get in touch with your service provider and have them look at your message log and see if they can trace where it comes from.
