Are you including airfare and hotel for $2K? Peak season prices could make this number a bit tight. Off season, like now, it should be OK.
If you are asking if $2K is enought for food and travel, then YES it is.

I not sure of a 10-day trip. But when i went to Tokyo for vacation, I only spent SGD$1600 for a week, including air tickets, lodging, food, transport, and shopping. =)
I flew there from Singapore, with an hour of transit at Hong Kong, by Cathay Pacific.

Where are u flying from?
Does 2K include airfare?
Where do u intend to visit in Japan? Inter-regional transortation can be take up quite a portion of 2K.
And your expectations of accomodation and food?

When you say 10 day trip to Japan what are you meaning? Spending money of 2,000. 2,000 for air/hotel/taxes? If it is the ladder part I would say this is unrealistic for a 10 day trip. 2,000 doesn't go that far. You will pay that in airfare alone, if not a bit more.

S$2k is about 140,000 yen.
If the hotel is 10,000yen/day, only 40,000 left.
Limousine bus costs 3,000 yen for one way.
Lunch is about 900-1,200 yen.
Fast foods, McDonalds and Yoshinoya, are more cheap. 300-600 yen.
Bottled water is about 150.
air tickect? desperate...
Aren't there any cheap package tour?
or book YHs? it is cheap.

Ooohhh yes ! I used around 1 000 € (so almost 1 000 $) for 2 weeks !
I chosed cheap hotel and ate cheap (but good) food. I used to visit and use subway often.
So you will not be in need with 2 000 ! ! ! !

I would say not if that 2000 includes your ticket price. Toyko is one of the most expensive cities on earth.
