There are at least 3 ways:

(1) LAPLINK Cables:
a) usb laplink cable - not just a normal usb to usb cable (sometimes it's called usb bridge or adaptor). Note: Normal usb to usb cable will destroy your computer! - see laplink website.
b) Parallel laplink cable (or serial) - though not usb but this is cheap and no driver needed.

(2) Wireless:
a) USB WIFI - must connect through AD-HOC.
b) Others: Bluetooth, and Infrared USB dongles.

(3) USB Flash Drive - the easiest and simplest way!

Easiest way is to buy a tumb drive , which is a small key size storage device you plug into a usb port and acts like a hard drive. Just copy the file over to the flash drive (another name for these tumb drives) with windows explorer off your desktop then move the flash drive to your notebook and copy it off the drive on your notebook.
These drives sell at you local electronics store or Wal-mat for $14 and up depending on how much storage the flash drive offers.
Or get an A to A usb cable. (Notice I said A to A that was not a topo. The strandad A to B cable does not allow file transfers.)
