George W. either forgot, never learned the facts of WW11, or doesen't care about public opinion because he thinks he is smarter, why do you think he has turned his back on the 69% who do not support his war in Iraq?

Well since he is a tool of the super rich and they support him 99% I'd say he doesn't care. All these union hating neocons will eventually figure that out. Their last job will be posting propaganda on this site for him.

I'm sure Bush knows what the poll numbers are, but he probably doesn't care. I'm pretty sure he sees his job as doing what he believes is right, not following whatever the poll of the day might be.

Is he right? I can't say. It's easy to look back on mistakes like Vietnam and wonder why the President then didn't get out once public opinion had turned. But to be fair, we'd also have to hold the Revolutionary War and the Civil War to the same standard. Had we pulled out from those conflicts the moment 50.01% of the people were against them, the results would have been disastrous.

That is not true. I would love to see where you got your source for that statistic. I am a poli/sci major and my wife is a history major, I can assure you that there were a lot of people who believed the U.S. should stay out of WWII. In fact when FDR was running for re-election (prior to Pearl Harbor) he promised the U.S. would stay out of the war, because that was the popular opinion.

And for the record in the weeks following 9/11 (prior to the U.S. led invasion of Afghanistan) President Bush had one of the highest approval ratings of all time (which stems from a principle that people gather around their leader in war time).

This is typical, uniformed, liberal rhetoric. Where people get fed up without looking in to the topic, and blame the person that the media has told them to blame.

P.S. And by the way there has not been a WW11. There was WWII or WW2 but World War 11 (eleven) is nearly as far off as your question/statement itself.

No way that FDR and Truman had 99% of of Ameican support in WW2. A major factor was the popes dissaproval of WW2. I imagine that some of the catholics, communists, Quakers, etc. were against WW2. I think public opinion is important. Please remeber that public opinion was strongly against the Civil War. Imagine if that war didn't happen.

President Bush is too busy concentrating on the war, not how he is doing in opinion polls. That's why Clinton had good poll numbers, because he was pleasing everyone that would take the polls. That 69% only represents the poll takers, not the entire population.

As an observer outside U.S. Bush did a good job in Iraq. If U.S a superpower don do it , who will.? Iraq is getting notorious to its neighbour's and may soon head to U.S for trouble, like the Al queda that hit the Twin Towers. To declare war is not easy and popular but some Chief of Commander have to do it. Your next President will have to be like Bush policing for now the new treat like Iran.

As political views and technology changes, so does the way of life. When looking at concepts, you have to be able to see many different parts of it. Bush is doing what he believes is best for the country, just as FDR, Truman, Wilson, Lincoln, and other presidents who are "American Heroes". Yet, as George Washington--who is probably the most famous, and patronized president--never agreed to expanding America, as the times change, so did the demand for land. It was our "manifest destiny" to travel, and so as Americans we pushed west. Bush is just doing his role in our manifest destiny of the world by trying to show the benefits of a capital economy and democratic government can do.

PS. It was WWII... I don't believe we've had eleven World Wars yet.

I wasn't a Harry Truman supporter then but I am now. He was a great president; however, his rating was in the 20% catagory, believe it or not.

People didn't speak out against the President during a time of war. They had backbones and morals back then. They presented a united front to the enemy, which is sadly lost on you liberals today. It doesn't surprise me seeing how you nominated Kerry to run for President knowing what he did during Vietnam and speaking out against the troops then. Good point - I hope you will but I know you won't learn from it. It goes to show how really twisted your logic is.

He takes it to heart that he is the commander and chief of the country. I don't think he cares what the American people think or anyone else for that matter. I am sure that he is aware of the ratings that other presidents have had. As I said before, he just doesn't care. In my opinion, he has a higher than warranted opinion of himself. .
