put a lamp on your desk or keep the lights on in your room... as long as the light source is above you or in front (to the side) of you, it'll be okay. Just make sure it's not behind you !

Either add more ambient lighting such as turning on overhead lights or a few stand lamps nearby, or get a webcam which has a higher lux (ability to work in lower light conditions).

Professional photographers use lamps with a silvered umbrella to reflect light back onto the subject and eliminate shadows.

I have a ceiling fan with bright lights right over my heat, and it works just fine now!

try placing a light source in front of your face, this would ensure that the shadow is at the back.
