I was wondering if i should use 87 gas or 91.
In the owners manual it says recommended 91.
Would it harm my engine if i were to use only 87?
Also, can i mix the 2 (87 and 91)?

Hammad please use good fuel try several tanks of 91/93 octane and carefully check the gas mileage. Fill up exactly the same each time. Then go back to 87 and check just as carefully. I bet you will get three more miles a gallon with 91/93 . Over 18 gallons 54 more miles and a slight savings at 2.50 a gallon. But it is the engine performance that good fuel makes. pages 10-2 and 10-3 owners manual say premium fuel. Your car will like it!

It should run on regular just fine, it gets ideal performance with premium which is why they reccomend premium

If it is getting detonation switch to premium
It's only a 5 year old car so if it is getting detonation (even with regular gas) i'd get it checked out because usually indicate that the engine is getting too hot, or you're using the wrong kind of spark plugs, i've never mixed premium and regular, but it might not be a bad idea

I have a 2001 Nissan Maxima. I always use regular. I use gas treatments every 3000 miles. the manual says to use midgrade and up, but if you use regular and it runs well, use regular.my car just hit 95,000 miles, still going strong.

can become expensive if you try to go cheap. Knocking or premature detonation of fuel is not good and the computer may not be able to keep the pinging in check. Saving a few bucks now might cost you a lot of money if you do this over time.

I would go with the manufactures recommendation. Lower octane gas can cause detonation which can blow a hole in the top of your pistons.
