it's 92 saturn,It takes forver to get started but once it's stared it blows white smoke from the tail pipe. it only started doing this after i fixed the radiator. I also checked the oil and I think theres water in it. when I got it started it drives fine except for smoking and overheating after about 15 mins of driving. could it be the head gasket?

its just from the fluid that was leaking... it should stop.. but sinc eit over heated your car will never run the some.. this happened to us! We drove a 2000 sunfire.. ofter we replaced every thing it drove like s h i t and it still over heated we ended up selling the car cuz it was costing us too much $$$.. i suggest you do the some unless you have the $$ to pour into it!

oh oh oh I am afraid this is bad news. white smoke from the tail pipe usually means one thing. that water is entering into the combustion chamber, and escaping out the tailpipe as steam. this is almost always due to broken head gasket, or worse cracked head. you might also see water in the engine oil. the problems was when the car overheated, and the engine got too hot and this damaged it. even with a new radiator, the damage has been done. good luck.

Yes its most likely a head gasket but it could be a crack in the head or block. The only way that I know of to find out without tearing down the engine is using a compression gage to check the cylinders for leaks. Sounds bad, I'm very sorry.

The most likely cause is a blown head gasket, yes. Still worse alternatives are a cracked cylinder head or a cracked block--though these are less likely.

One way or another, however, coolant is finding its way into your combustion chamber and is steaming off. More importantly, the continual overheating could warp the head or worse, so it is necessary to have it attended to promptly.

most likely a bad head gasket,or a cracked cylinder head.Overheating doesn't do good things for those engines, and the white smoke is water vapor from the coolant out of your new radiator being burned in the cylinders and out the tail pipe.
You need to fix it before the rest goes.Oil and water does bad things to engine bearings not to mention hydro locking or bend a rod.

Could be the head gasket and or a cracked head, if you do the job, take the time to get the head checked for cracks and warpage.

i own a repair shop,,and its probably got a blown head gasket,,and id say you may have a cracked head on it also,,anytime you get one like that hot is does bad damage to it,and this one is going to cost a lot to repair,,i have done 2 Saturn's this year for over heating, and both of them had to have a new head put on them,,when they get that hot it almost ruins the whole engine in one,,id have it looked at,and maybe you,ll get lucky, and it just b a blown head gasket,,but i doubt it,,from what you said id say it needs a new head also,,good luck with it,i hope this help,s.

either head gasket or cracked head. with the engine cool remove the radiator cap. start the engine. if bubbles are coming up in your antifreeze, it is also blowing exhaust into your cooling system. either way it is a very expensive problem to fix.

In overheating you may have ruined your head gasket. Now water is leaking there from the cooling system into the combustion chamber.
Fix that or you'll blow your engine.

Well this is fairly easy...if you got it really hot...it is possible that you have a blown head gasket or possibly a blown head..good luck..youll also notice a drop in power as well. The oil will be milky and a lighter brown.
