High school age. Does it really matter what you look like until you get into high school and start dating? If you answered yes, maybe you should start wearing make-up before that age...whatever you do, go for a natural look- just enhance what you have already. A little concealer, mascara, lipgloss and you're in business.

I know middle-schooler girls are always dying to wear make up (I did too)... I think around 6th or 7th grade it'd be safe to go with "lip color" (like glosses, nothing tacky although i know bright/shiny/or light colors are popular with younger girls) and maybe a little bit of eyeshadow... 8th grade start with some mascara and concealor if needed... in high school, eyeliner minimum (honestly I think most girls look better without eyeliner) mascara, blush and so forth because I hope by high school a teenage girl will understand make-up fashion enough to be able to not go overboard.
Hope that helped some.

13 to 14. A teenager can wear Covergirl make up but needs to be shown and told that the most important thing is :to wash it off every night with a good cleanser. Any type will do and then apply a moisturizer. Again it doesn't need to be expensive stuff, as long as she follows the cleansing. Tell her as soon as she doesn't take it off at night, she'll have to fore go the make-up.

I'd say 15 would be okay to start off with some translucent powder, gloss and some blush. At sixteen a light foundation, translucent powder, blush, and probably some mascara. In all actuality, most girls start off with basics at 13-14yrs old. But starting later, and using the most breathable products will help skin stay fresh and young looking...and less blemishes!! I started out with clinique products...they are very good for sensitive skin, and can work with all skin types and shades. They're very helpful, too. If you wanna start out cheaper...covergirl is the best value...product for value.

Around 12-13, is when I started. I just wore a bit of powder (translucent). But really, natural is beautiful, and too much makeup is vulgar.
14-15 is a good age to start wearing some mascara and light lipgloss, a bit of pwder and concealer if you have spots.

They seem to want to wear makeuup younger and younger.
My daughter started to wear a very light non-oily foundation (with a translucent powder) and a tinted lip gloss around 14.
By about 16 she was experimenting with mascara, a range of eye shadows and applying darker lipsticks.
But she did not wear it all to school (just the foundation and gloss for there).

Many girls want to start at like 10, in which, from experience speaking, I would suggust just lip gloss. And then slowly add on throughout the years, like when at 11, put eye shadow, 12 mascara etc.

A good age to start to wear make- up is 17 or 18 but if you don't need it don't use it. But if you must go for a natural look and wear a make-up that will not clog your pores. For example, sheer cover and check out www.sephora.com for a variety of make-up and brands.

I think it is ok for a 13 year old girl to wear makeup. Just show how less is more. Nothing is wrong with some biege shimmer eyeshadow and clear lip gloss.
