These pickups are great, your guitar will sound soo good, I love them and totally recommend them. Hope this helps!

Emg's are pretty good, but they require you to use batteries. They do have a good sound though. It's hard to answer this Q because these things are a matter of personal taste and what sound you are after. Go to the music store and see if they maybe have some demos you can try out. But it will only give you an idea becuz of all of the variables (amps, etc).
Don't know about the second Q.

for the metal and stuff sure go with emg's....but i have a theory about ppl who want those kinda pickups....most guys that want emg's really want a mesa boogie dual rectifier...if ya get my drift....they're wanting a tone that comes from a amp/cab setup...not a pickup. Now I have a fender showmaster with Duncan® SH-1N RP ’59 reverse-polarity humbucking pickup at the neck and a Seymour Duncan® SHPGP-1B Pearly Gates Plus™ humbucking pickup at the bridge (both with nickel pickup covers to warm 'em up a bit) and it is versatile. from country, to jazz, to classic blues, to heavy blues rock, to some serious metal these pickups do it for me.....check out musiciansfriend.com for some good deals.

EMG's rock man...cant go wrong. If you want a nice distortion pedal go with the Boss Metal Zone, you can get almost any sound you want outta that including those you mentioned you play.

why are you wasting money on pick ups, spend it on an amp that is more imporatnt to your output sound.
