The other day, this guy approched me and asked me if I'd be interested in joining his business. I me with him to day and he explained that he is a financial planner and does, life insurance, mutual funds, and other stuff. I think alot of you know what I'm talking about. Can anyone tell me if this is something worth getting involved with. Are you or do you know anyone in this. What are the pros and cons if any. Thanks

First of all, there is absolutely nothing wrong with Multi Level Marketing. People who slam it, usually don't know why, they just do. It is merely an alternate way of selling an exclusive product rather than marketing it in a store. When you purchase from a conventional sales company, the salesman is paid commission and the rest goes to the guys at the top, yet no one has a problem with that!!

But I digress. My brother was a Primerica representative and learned an incredible amount about finances. At the time that he was involved, you could not have another job if you were involved with life insurance (we are in Canada), and he had a young family and had a difficult time making ends meet.
You really need to have some disposable income to keep you afloat while you are building your business.
He found when he broke down people's existing policies on the computer and showed them what Primerica could do for them, they were skeptical. Even though the numbers were there in black and white, many would not switch.
I think you have to be very dedicated and persistent, but if you're willing, you could earn a very decent income.

I have been with the company for for years. We have police officers, teachers, pro ball players, technicians, students. The company treats me well and pays better than anything else I've ever done. I have a master's degree in education. I don't get where purple call this company a scam.

The con is the "sponsor" who brings you in gets a cut of everything that you sell.

However, if you go in on your own, you can set up your own IRA's annually and take the income you earn off of yourself instead of paying a broker.

It's very high pressure sales and is an MLM (multi level marketing). I know people in it, mostly for the reason I listed.

it's a multi-level marketing "game", just like Amway or Avon. Only the people on the top make any money. If you can get 50-100 people below you, you can make money, too. He needs you to build his network. Not a good career.
