When ghost hunters "hunt" ghosts, they use an Guass Meter (EMF Detector). EMF detectors , which stands for Electro-Magnetic Force or Electric magnetic field (depends who you ask), shows someone an area of high-elecromagnetic/static/resinence areas surrounding the person. It's similar to using a Geiger Counter to check for radiation.

EMF can come from various sources, especially in this day and age. Televisions, computers, cell phones, they will all set off an EMF detector. These surrounding as measured in Guass, mostly milliGuass. (Guass was the inventor and first to research paranormal activity) Electronic devices will measure 1.5-30 mG depending how much electricity it consumes and if it specifically outputs some sort of radiation like a radio station, cell phone, or microwave.

If your lucky though, you can find areas of high resinense, like 45-200mG. When areas get this high, it is very likey strange things well happen. If its negative air, it could act as a ground and devert electrons from passing through electric wires (getting your dimming lights/brownout/blackout effect on your lights along with the TV going out momentarily.

Also, photography will be effected. EMF emmits non-visible light that electronic devices can pick up but the human eye can't. You may see large lights or orbs in the picture that can't be explained. To better understand this, get your remote. Notice there is an LED light bulb on the front of it that you point to the TV. Now point the bulb at you face and press a couple of buttons. See anything? No. Now get a video camera (extremely hard with a regular camera) Press the record and begin filming. Now get the remote and aim it at the recorder's lense and press some buttons. Then review the tape, you'll notice rapid flashing of the light. The video recorder is able to pic this non-visible light and slow down the wave-length so the human eye can pick it up.

If an EMF area has protons and nutrons, it is likey that an item in your house may become positively charge and another close by object to be negative. The higher the mG, the more likey one of those items may force itself closer to the other. "It just moved by itself!", people say, also, abnormal sounds can be cause by objects sliding around inside floorboards or ceilings.

Most of these have explanation except for one thing, where did the EMF come from? Ghost hunters are more determined an area has a ghost when the EMF meter has a reading, then a few moments later, in the same spot, the reading is 0. Which one could come to the conclusion of a ghost walking around. If an area has an EMF reading constantly, they look for other things it might be like TVs or Wireless Router, sometimes even coax cable and electrical wire in the wall. But ones that move in and out people are convinced it's a ghost.

So although there is no "proof" ghosts exist. There is proof of abnormal EMF areas that have no explination. And it could very well be a ghost sliding that picture across the mantel, and the only way they can do it is to make "static" negative and positive air and slide it across.

If you buy a EMF meter, or you can build one very cheap (like $30) from RadioShack parts if your good at soldering. If not, expect to pay anywhere from $50-$300 for one on the internet. (Mostly because people think it is a very complicated machine. It only has no more than 10 componants that make up the entire device.

If there is any proof, then man will start looking for God in the Ghost world. We are just out to disproof God in anything we do of say.

There are many who have had personal encounters with the paranormal, other still who track paranormal activity and document it. There are various photos, webcam images, etc. of spirit sightings and orbs.

If you conduct a search online using "evidence of ghosts", you'll find several sites with additional information.

Good luck!

If you believe that people are made of mind, body and spirit...then yes, there is a spirit world. I have seen a 'ghost' before...I was not alone, so it's not something only I saw.

ghosts are an elaborate urban myth. every "ghost" has a logical explanation. ghost spheres, for example, are merely particles of dust in midair that resemble small spheres when a light shines on it. this is why most "haunted" houses are actually just not dusted often.

Sadly, there is no proof. If there were, there would be a lot more serious scientific study devoted to this area, since it would be a very important thing if it were legitimate.

None - but the experience is very real because our minds are very powerful. The mind will project its own state outward and can create experiences that seem very very real.
