Why can't you move ? Go to the employment office and ask what resources there are to help you get the money to move to another town where there is possibility of employment. They are there to help you. Are you a stay at home mom with a working husband or a stay at home mom on gov't assistance ? If you have a husband see if he would be willing to relocate to give you opportunity. If on support see above. If with a husband, with established career, you need to see about different career opportunities in the town you are in. Your college courses will be recognized for other positions by numerous other types of companies. e.g. a legal dept. in a corporation that deals in contracts, administrative assistant, project/contract managers etc. Look outside the box.

This very much depends upon provincial laws about what paralegals can do. Here, there are limited legal services you could perform without attorney supervision, but I don't know if that is true in B.C. The other problem is that if the town is so small that there are no law offices, there can't be many potential clients either.

I don't know Canadian law, but can you be a legal advisor and paperwork handler without going to court? If there are no attorneys there, who writes the wills and checks the deeds? Sounds like an opportunity, and if you occasionally need a J.D. to review a case, charge your client for the consult!

You could work off-site for a law firm - have your phone set up so that you can take calls - do your work on their shared internet available files - you don't "have" to have a physical presence for a great deal of work that is done by a paralegal.

why can't you move? You are limiting your entire life and career bay not being open to going where opportunities are at. I know I have had to move 3, 4 times, but each move put me further along where I wanted to be.
