3(4n-2)+7=71-2n
12n - 6 + 7 = 71 - 2n
14n = 70
n = 70 / 14
n = 5

First you expand the phrase in parentheses:

12n-6+7 = 71-2n
Then combine the numbers on the left, and add 2n to both sides:

14n+1 = 71
then subtract 1 from both sides

14n = 70
then divide both sides by 14:

n = 70/14 = 5

That wasn't so hard, was it?

Distribute the three to (4n-2)
12n-6+7=71-2n 12n+1=71-2n
Subtract 1 from each side
12n=70-2n
Add 2n to each side
14n=70
Divide 14 from each side
n=5

Please use ADD DETAILS and show us what YOU think the steps are. Go as far as you can through the steps. Once everyone can see what you're doing, it's much easier to pinpoint where you need help. That way you'll be getting actual HELP rather than someone just spoonfeeding you the answer.

Just remember, start with the correct order of operations, combine like terms if possible, and then get that variable by itself. Whatever you do to one side of the equation, you must do to the other. This is a very easy algebra problem. You can do it! Give it a try (use ADD DETAILS) and then I'll help you step by step.
