Because they have no shame.

They seem to think that misspelling everything and making egregious grammar errors doesn't make them look like a god damn idiot.

Yahoo has done their best by putting the spell check there, but people that stupid in the first place probably don't know how to use it anyway.

There was a mail which showed that if the first and last alphabets are in proper place, it does not matter if the other alphabets are misplaced, the reader manages to read it correctly, because the eye 'jumps' from word to word , instead of crawling along the words !
Perhaps this mail has persuaded people to feel the spell check to be redundant !

It's a cultural thing. Most people just don't see a reason to use good spelling and grammar in informal contexts, like chat rooms or message boards. That, I believe, has to do with our culture of instant gratification and convenience. This same attitude resulted in the development of chat room lingo (brb, lol, u instead of you, and so on). Correctness has taken a backseat to speed and convenience . Most people figure that they're going to be understood and get their question/response read anyways, so why bother?

The Internet itself is about rapid and easy access to information, so it fits into the widespread ideology that something doesn't need to be perfect - as long as it serves its purpose and does it quickly.

Me - I check my spelling. I can't help it. My mother is a librarian, and it's been driven into my head that spelling is important.

Just because you run spell check doesn't mean the words will be correct or the answer make sense

eg:

The chasing of the silly words ergo enabling pompoms replies to with all sublime

I spell checked the above and there were no errors
