1. It is a tool that is used to take measurements and turn them into predictions of how things will behave, and to help understand why things have happened in specific ways and quantities.
2. I'm sure there is some subtle difference, but for purposes of argument, I don't think there is much difference. Perhaps a hypothesis is something you quantify with mathematics.
3. A scientific fact is something that is testable and provable within the laws as we know them.
4. Physics is the study of the basic reasons why things happen the way they happen, and the properties of everything at the fundamental level. If we find out in physics that everything is made of particles, then physicists look to find out what makes the particles.
All the other sciences use these basic principles of understanding.
