It invokes a sense of awareness of the year passing, and the beauty that you have seen. It reminds us of the wonders of the world that no poet and no artist could possibly recreate or capture. It reminds us of how unimportant we are and how lucky we are to be seeing the things we do. It is peaceful, it is beautiful, and it is untamed.

Autumn is so beautiful because the air become crisp, cold, no clouds, and allowing for light to reflect off objects. It's is a joy, to see object in this state of intensity, warmth, and value, and there relationship to one another, both from afar, and up close.

Since you asked the question under the philosophy category, I think it is so beautiful because it represents the time in your life when you're no longer a child (Spring); when you're finished with the hard work of raising a family and working a career (Summer); and you're not quite to the end of your life (Winter). You are able to be refreshed by the joys of life (cooler temps, beautiful surroundings, less pressure) and still healthy enough to enjoy all life has to offer. That's my 2 cents.
