This is under Philosophy, so I'll just give you mine.
(& by the way, I'm very introspective & "figure out" as you put it, something new about myself every day; keeping a journal gives the best insights, as in your stream of consciousness, many things are clarified about why you respond, behave & live the life you do--a lifelong project!)
I don't try to "figure out" people. Just to better understand those with whom I transact because I want/have to, so our relationship can be guided, & maintained more smoothly. At best, our perceptions of "who people are" are subjective: Certainly there are some people with whom I have absolutely nothing in common, so I "sift" them out of my life. Not critically, & not with judgments. I was a bit distressed by one response, "gays." What is there to figure out? We're who we are, it's our right to be, & it's silly to examine one another like little bugs on a pin. It's true that: "Life is what you make it." We CAN allow differences to agitate us, but isn't that a foolish waste of time? I think I gave you more than you asked for! But it was a good question. YOU have a beautiful day, too!

Introverts. They ussually are not only shy but put up fences and barriers that make it hard to get to know them. Lawyers. Do you know what you call a thousand lawyers at the bottom of the ocean? Ans: A start. Paranoid schizophrenics with multiple personalities. Too many of them to figure out. Bosses who lie. Companies who bug out to Mexico and China when the most productive workers are right here in the good old USA. Politicians. They would sell their souls for power. Republicans. Enough said there. And these are just a few of my favorite things.

Republicans. Anorexics and movie stars, who starve themselves because they think the starvation look is glamorous. News reporters, who give their biased opinions instead of reporting fact. Hunters, who enjoy killing animals. What is up with that? I don't see any other reason for hunting in this day and age when there is Kroger and Albertson's right around the corner, except cases of animal overpopulation. Do they think this makes them more manly? Who knows! People that are too conservative and too liberal. Lawyers and politicians. They will be the downfall of our civilization. People that are so worried about the "rights" of a criminal that they overlook the rights of a victim. Football players, who pat each others bottoms on the field! What is up with that one, guys? I don't understand men!

I don't understand people who don't accept forgiveness. I forgave a close friend of mine, unconditionally, for things in his past that have a great affect on me. He refused my forgiveness and shut me out. We no longer talk, because he has not forgiven himself, and will not accept the forgiveness that, I believe, God has already extended to him.
I can't understand why he would not want to shed the gloom, to no longer droop in sorrow, and move on in faith and happiness. I don't get why he doesn't take full advantage of the Atonement.
I just don't understand it.

the ones with lots of contradictions. you can never tell how they would react to a certain situation. Someone mentioned above me about "the shy ones". I think it is more of "the introverted ones" (lol...which includes me). They have a world of their own. they rarely initiate talk with strangers and they don't seem to have depth if you don't know them in person...but try knowing them personally and they'll blow you with their imagination.

For me, the shy & quiet ones. It's hard to tell when you do not have enough signs (body expressions, exchange of words etc) to gauge the person.
