i have watched the hong kong version( well..i am from malaysia, so hk movies r popular here) and i love those movies esp, tony leung and andy lau.
i guess the yanks would have to do it new york style.
its good that a chinese movie is being remade into a hollywood blockbuster. its really an honour the way the "gwai-lo's" are respecting eastern cultures and movies. (sad thing..i am not even a chinese and they are not looking at bollywood movies because well...bollywood movies suck).
i say they should adapt more china, taiwan, japanese, korean and hong kong movies. jackie's and jet's fight for respect has been half won. bruce lee would be proud.

I honestly think that America has lost it's inspiration and creative streak that once made it the best in the world, nowdays we have remakes of old classic or cult movies or " re-imagining" of movies, or the complete rip-off of Asian movies like, 'Ring' , 'the grudge' , 'dark water', and the list is getting longer and longer..I mean whatever happened to the time when America would take the chance on anything?? It made it very competitive when all these great and off beat movies were being made, movies like...Blade runner, Apocalypse now, taxi driver, dog day afternoon....Asia has shown how creative it has become, and they don't worry about big money making movies, just quality movies, and they are getting better and better, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea, and even Thailand are making better stuff than America, so I would have to take the HK way, definately

Of course the HK version. Andy Lau & Tony Leung are awesome! I doubt if The Departed will be as good as Infernal Affairs. We'll see.
