I am currently looking at vacationing in Cancun or Bermuda. Can you tell me about your vacation? What is fun, where did you stay, how much did it cost, how long was the flight, etc.?

Have you ever stayed here and what did you think?

I went to Cancun in May for specifically looking at 14 different hotels after the severe hurricane damage that area sustained.

There were several hotels which I thought were beautiful, great beaches all around did a great job of repairing the hurricane damage. There were other hotels that were clean and would be good depending on your budget hotels. Others I would never recommend nor stay in fact highly discourage against.

The flight length depends on what city you are flying from, but to give you an idea from Minneapolis to Cancun it is a 4 hour flight. Cancun is definitely a fun place to go, however I would recommend considering the Mayan Riviera area which is south there instead of Cancun. Then again though it is all in what is important to you and expectations which without knowing more info I couldn't tell you which would be better for you.

The hotel you are referring to the El Dorado Royale is a beautiful hotel in Puerto Morales which is South of Cancun by about 40 min.

Bermuda is a beautiful Island and is completely different from Mexico. Rental cars aren't allowed in Bermuda. Transportation is very easy here though. Most popular form is motor scooters which you don't need a license for. This is where the business men where a business jacket and colorful Bermuda shorts. This island is kind of pricey also. Your money will go further in Mexico.

If there is anything I can do to help you with your travel arrangements feel free to email me and I can give you my contact information.

Cancun and Bermuda are two completely different destinations. There is a lot of history and beautiful beaches in both destinations. However, Cancun is much more touristy and Americanized, and the cost of food, drinks, lodging and personal items are going to be much less expensive. There is definitely more nightlife. The packages can cosy $600-$1000 per person depending on star rating and location for an all-inclusive package.

Bermuda is very British, very clean and very expensive. A jar of peanut butter can cost $9! Everything is imported into Bermuda. Grotto Bay has a good all-inclusive price which may save money in the long run, but it can easily cost $4000 for two people with tax and food, drink and tipping included. I wend to Bermuda on a cruise, and that was by far the best vacation I ever had. Budget-wise, Bermuda is best seen on a cruise ship because food and lodging is already paid for,

But Bermuda is a beautiful island, and if your budget permits, I would go there at least once in life.

definite you'll be able to. Get a well consultant guide just like the Lonely Planet. Expect to get pulled over and "fined" for rushing or some thing. Just smile and pay up. Sometimes you'll be able to cut price somewhat. But for those who stand up the nerve to fly, Cancun is among the least expensive flights to Mexico or to get nearly Central America. Fly there after which take the buses soputh for a few pleasant adventuires in Guatemala, Belize and Honduras.

No, unfortunately, I have not been to Cancun, Mexico or its country. I've only touched Barbados (my home away from home -- it's like go home for vacation), and Trinidad & Tobago (Trinidad part), other than U.S.A..

No, I've been to Melaque, on the Pacific Coast.

NO crowds of tourists. Much lower prices. Not as much crime.

Secret? Don't go where all the tourists go. Ask the locals.
